this is my nonsense

So today I mingled with the rich and famous of Los Angeles, and what a day, we got up at 5 to catch the first train down there, which was close to being mission impossible (ha, we still have careers but Tom doesn’t, read the news if you don’t understand!) for us but we managed it and we got there ‘on-time’ after a long run to the station to catch it. So the first thing is trains are different here compared to practically any other country, they move at the same speed I run, which isn’t that fast but I’m working on it! So it took close to 3 hours to get there, and our weird and crazy day started with the dining car cashier singing songs about ‘what a beautiful morning to be travelling on a train…traa la la’ so it was really entertaining, I’m telling you the people I saw today were even stranger and more mentally unstable that the ones lurking in the Santa Barbara streets! So after the train ride through the desert of California, yup it’s pretty much desert! So after navigating the LA Metro, ye they have one I never knew, we got to the famous Hollywood and Vine St, and for the next 10 blocks our heads were fixed on the ground looking for the next star on the Walk of Fame, so we got to see all the famous peoples names on the streets, and other cool things like El Capitan and the Chinese Theatre, and the Kodak Theatre where the Oscars are, so if you have no clue what all those were then either just go aaahh, or get a guidebook and you’ll see how cool it is, these places are full of Elvis/Spiderman/Halloween/Hulk people, so it’s pretty funny!! Speaking of Guidebooks I decided it would be better to have a torn book so it looked like I was a veteran at the whole LA scene, so we ended up standing on the book and messing it up a bit, so hey we became veterans at finding our way, which usually mean’s we just asked around, think we asked close to 20 people for directions during the day! Then we made our way to Beverly Hills, and wow, now that’s a neighbourhood; if there’s one place to have a house there then this is it! So we ‘blended’ in with all the hillbillies, and got lost in the back streets before finding our way to Rodeo Dr., which is kind of overrated and full of shop people staring you down thinking why we were even there. So after the ‘blending’ got boring we went to Downtown LA, which mean’s Chinatown, this place rocks, and it got me even more excited for the Asia travels, the place was awesome, but kind of disturbing too, some of the food was sick but it was cool, and then we also roamed the little communities of Mexico and Little Tokyo. So ye, we did a lot in one day, and we’ve figured we have to do it again sometime, well after our next adventure to San Francisco. LA isn’t like what you would expect in movies though, it’s actually really dirty, we came back with our feet black, looked like diseased things, think that’s the reason people were staring at us so weirdly on the train, well actually everywhere, so now I’m actually falling asleep writing this so I better be off to bed, won’t survive at work tomorrow otherwise, so I’ll write again soon when I’m not being drawn in by the sleep police, so hope everyone is good, and I’ll write again soon!

Hey everyone, none of you will actually believe it, but i do actually run, i've been told i'm lying, but i'm being dead serious i do! Even ran to downtown Los Angles, ha i wish, ok that a lie, but i ran to downtown Santa Barbara, so thats the photo i took of downtown LA in my dreams! All's good over here, things for November have totally changed around, i'm actually going home first, still going to NY though, thats one of the cities of the world i've always wanted to see, so i'm going to risk it and go see it. So after that i'm flying back home for a week and then going on my trip to see all the awesome people i'm missing loads in Asia, trying to work out how it's all going to work but so far it's all looking good, and i'm so excited that now i'll get to see the Wilkinsons in Hong Kong, my aim is to know alot about HK so when i get there i can be real informed and impress people with my Lonely Planet knowledge, yup, i'm reading all those books! So works all good, this month is a really busy month for Bacara, so we're working hard! Since we've moved we've actually been able to experience the American TV we've all heard of, and even though there are only 70 land channels (ye i know, only!) it's so hard to pick something, i get way confused about what to watch...so i better be off to flick through the channels, i know this is one of the most random of blogs, but hey, it gives you all something to read... Missing you all loads, and can't wait for South Africa/Asia/Switzerland, pick the one which applies to you and tippex out the rest, yes onto the screen! Just to let you knwo i don't take responsibility to anyone that actually does that, Mom! So till the next random one...later!

So everyone, another week down, Mondays and Tuesdays have become our weekends, so it's the weekend....yay, and the great thing about that if everything has regualr opening times! So we have to go change our address from 2900 Hell House, to 328 Paradise, yes it's been a great week, we even chilled out in the hot tub before work the one day and believe it or not it is actually hot, like really hot, i wasn't actually coping! So ye, otherwise all's normal, i though i would put in a few photos of the place, was going to get photos with the new people in but that will come around! So theres the house, and even a tree house, for all those days when you just feel like getting back to nature, the place is really cool, and the people ahve been totally cool to us. And works good, we got some fresh meat in so now we aren't the new people! I feel likie such a veteran at that place now, people were asking me questions and i was like huh, i know the answer, so that rocks! The one new guy seems like the perfect replica of the all american guy, so we've started to refer to him as Capt. America, he's so copying me cos' i had been dubbed Capt. Africa. But the dude is really the all American jock, it's funny! Well i better be off, i'll try to think of some more witty things to write about, but for now most of my time goes into organising the trip to South East Asia, which i'm so excited about, can't wait to see those two, and get to see what it's really like in that part of the world, because the last time i was there i had no clue, where or what was going on! Suppose nothing much has changed yet then!!! So the planning is coming on, i think i should open up a Travellers Hotel, and i can organise their trips for them, because i'm totally rocker at it, thats as long as nothing gets delayed, because then i might get kinda of messed over! So missing most of you, jokes all, and i hope all's good!
Over and Out (Capt. Africas Out!)

So I’m writing to you from a bed, yes a fully fledged bed, with a mattress, sheet, duvet and more than an inch above the ground, so that can only mean one thing, yes we’re out of ‘Hell House’, Craig and I decided to name it, and there was nothing better fitting it than that, seeing as Satan herself lives there. So the people we moved to called us up and asked if we wanted to move early, so we jumped at it, so we moved a day early, and it’s going so well, they came to pick us up and we sat around on the deck just talking, they are really amazing people. Our room is practically the size of our old house, and we now have our own bathroom, plus wait for this, there’s actual wireless internet, so I’m not committing a felony by using one of the neighbours, so thank-you to whoever that was, and there's a working tv, so even though i might end up sitting on a couch more, at least i get to see what real cable is like! And the best part, there's a hot tub, so it's great, we can chill in there and forget about work! Making work sound like i'm making a difference in the world as a captain of industry, but hey, carrying plates is better than begging and it pays the rent! So i've put some of the wierd and freaky photos of the old place here, so you can see what we had to endure for 49 days, yes, the number of days it was hell! So this is what it was like in the mannequin house... But tomorrow we have to go back, yes it's true, she wouldn't give us back our deposit today because she wanted to survey the room, and because she found dead bugs, and apparently a dirty bathroom (even though it was cleaner and not a health risk, like when we first moved in) she's taking another $20 ontop of the $30 that she's taking for misc 'breakages', and so we've decided that what the heck to be done with this place we giving her the $50 and going, couldn't be bothered to deal with her anymore, it's amazing how she ended up just taking advantage of us, and i feel really sorry for the person moving in tomorrow, yes it's true there's going to be someone new moving in, so good luck to you mate. But hey, now that thats past America seems to be getting better, it's amazing how much of a difference it makes! Otherwise we've had a great 2 days off, and in that time i managed to watch 3 movies, sad i know but there's nothing much else to do, so i ended up watching movies and roaming the streets of Santa Barbara like the street thug i am! Oh, and i think many people will be totally impressed with me, i've been running, well once, and it was actually really cool, so i went out and bought some running shoes (thanks parents, i kind of bought that one on your expense, but i promise it's for a good cause) so i'm going to be up early tomorrow and i'm going for a run, figured i gotta just go for runs, and do stuff! so thinking of doing it every morning! Will let you know how long it lasts till the novelty wears off. So i better be off to bed, we gotta be up early to return to 'Hell House' on Puesta Del Sol, so i'll be in touch all, and i hope you all well! Missing you all loads, and time is flying by so i'll be back soon, then you'll be begging me to leave again, i can just see it!

So this is the next part, i know many of you would have been gripped in suspense, waiting at the computer pressing refresh just waiting to find out what i actually did, but if you didn't then go to the previous ones and read them, you'll see why i'm so witty then! So we went to a baseball game, yes, went to see the LA Dodgers at the Dodgers stadium in LA, was so much fun, and just what i though it would be like. So we roadtripped down to LA and had a few drinks, which got us all in the mood. So this place is full of devout fans dressed from head to toe in blue, white and anything else bearing LA or dodgers on them, so i did the same with a blue jersey, though they would appreciate it, which i think they did because nothing got pelted at me, which i was happy about. So yesterday at work i told a guest i was going to a dodgers game and he said i had to have a Dodgers Dog, apparently it's a compulsury thing to have at a baseball match, which was really good i can say, ended up having two, and a burger. The game is actually really long, about 3 hours tonight, and had all the rules explained to me, so now i can actually understand what i see on tv in future. But they had everything, the songs, yes take me out to the ball game was sung, and i have it recorded, was so funny and they played those baseball chimes, dunno how to explain them, but what you see in the movies is what you get. So overall it was a really good experience and ultimatly because our team won, yea Go Dodgers. So we went and got a baseball each, so i can look cool, and actually have proof i went to a game (even though i could just buy it off ebay!) but we had a funny moment in the shop, craig knocked over two baskets fulled with balls and fans, ha, so that was a good moment and we just said he was foreign! So now we're back alive, after getting lost in a really dodge neighbourhood in LA, it was Chinatown which apparently is not a good place to be driving aorund in lost at night, so again i say it all places have their issues! But it was a good day, and cool to do something different! so another 6 day week ahead, which is totally exciting, but he's promised us 3 days off next week to make up for it, so we're thinking of going to San Fransisco, which would be totally wicked. Well i better be off to bed, i'm totally knackered. Hope everyones doing well, and will see you all soon, time is actually flying!

So another 6 week day down, ok that looks wrong, another 6 day week down, thats it! It's been a really busy week, this month is the resorts busiest so we're full constantly and do over 150 people for each sitting, so they raking in the cash, and we're getting tips, which is all good seeing as the real world is here, paying bills, cooking and just generally fending for yourself (in this case the land-lady) Ok but i have to say that it's still barable and she's not literally going to kill us in our sleep, yes parents, they took it really badly and were there to help, but it's fine, and as i said we're fending for ourselves. Here in Santa Barbara we've had 'Fiesta' it's a week long drunk party for the whole city, think Craig and I were the only sober ones though, so the street was littered with confetti and they had a stage for all different performances. Ok the wierd thing is you must see how they do confetti here, they put it in hollowed out eggs and then you break it over peoples head, and these stands are packed with them, like on the one photo you'll see. So thats another 'big' event down for Santa Barbara, but today we're doing something crazilly cool, yes, but i'm not going to say what it is, but check out the blog in 24 hours and you'll see. So to everyone who i'm going to miss seeing in the states, i'm sorry, but Thailand and Malaysia are definatly happening, which i know Reiko and Alice are totally stoked about, going to be amazing, so leaving LA on the 5th, but still trying to work out exact dates once i'm there. So ye, alot happening so i'm going to have to gett my bank balance up, slowly but surely it will. So i gotta be off, but will carry on tomorrow with this awesome news...till then...to be continued (just to let you know i totally hate when that happens, but it makes me watch the next time the show is on, tactics, thats what what we call

04 August, 2006

So it's been awhile everyone, actually don't know where to start or what we've even been up to, mainly working i suppose, thats the main thing, but we've done alot too, watched movies and i've been planning this amazing kick ass time in Thailand and Malaysia when i'm finished here to see Miss Reiko and Alice, missing you both so much, but will keep that for another day, and for all those who were wondering about the Great american Busride, well that kind of got a flat tire, well a few, firstly it's crazy sitting on a bus forever, and also apparently the Greyhound is used by ex-cons because the government gives them Greyhound passes when they finish their time, so don't want any stabbing while i'm in Nashville or some wierd backward town. So everyone here in Santa Barbara is really excited over the fact that we're having this thing called fiesta, it's a time when everyone in the whole city spends a week being totally smashed, even the one managed asked me if i was going to join in, so work isn't really a priority lately, they even have to set up mobile prisons to help with controlling the drunkards which will be roaming my playground. So works' been good, but crazy long hours, worked 15hrs yesterday which totally killed me, but we had our second orientation where they take you around the resort and show you a room, and the spa (where they gave us a hand treatment, totally freaky) and we watched motivational videos and did team stuff, this even consisted of making a collage of what Bacara means to us, ha i'm still laughing about it, what is wrong with this place, we're making collages at work, next we'll be colouring in. Wait i did actually colour in, i did hosting the other day, it's a fancy title for just greeting the guest and taking them to their table, and i coloured in a map of the restaurant, so their, we're doing it all at Bacara. So otherwise, wow, trying to think whats happened... well the time is coming to move out, only a few more days here in our 'other world' house, till we'll be with our new improved family, where we'll be chilling in the hot tub, and having a good ol' braai, actually we've done that a couple times here, and i even have proof of that in the photo, telling you we're becoming master chefs over here having to fend for ourselves. So seeing as we're moving that means the address is too, so check all your emails and it'll be there. well it's really late, well early in the morning now, so i'll figure out something really interesting to write about and i'll be letting you all know so keep checking this out and leave a comment so i know that you've actually been here, so far only Reiko and have commented so i suppose no one really reads this. So off i go, stay well and safe...
